Gary Sironen is the composer and director of “Reformation”. He began working on this musical in 1999 and presented the first concert performance of songs from "Reformation" at Christ Lutheran Church on Oct. 29, 2000. The concerts became an annual Reformation weekend event. In 2003, the first full performance of Act I was presented with costumes and staging. The Renaissance Arts Festival, a weekend of art, music and other events, was created around the musical and also debuted in 2003. The first performance of the completed work was produced at Christ Lutheran Church in 2005.

He has performed as a professional musician since the 1960’s, taught band and choir in the public schools for 10 years, and he has been composing contemporary Christian music, choral anthems, worship songs and liturgy since the early 1970's. He leads clinics and worship at various churches, conferences and workshops throughout Michigan. In 1985, he wrote the theme song and was music director for the opening session of the National Lutheran Youth Gathering at Purdue University.

Gary was director and music director for several high school musical theatre productions as a teacher, and he has been music director for some children’s musicals at both Grand Rapids Civic Theatre and Community Circle Theatre, having composed additional music for some of them.

Gary was minister of music at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids from 1988 to 1997, and he has been minister of music at Christ Lutheran Church since 1997. His responsibilities include worship planning, administering the music program and music staff, and directing the senior Choir and Praise Team. He is a former chair of the Worship Committee for the North/West Lower Michigan Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and Secretary/Treasurer of the Grand Rapids Federation of Musicians, Local 56, American Federation of Musicians. He is also a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.
